In the Beginning – Mens Christchurch Convention; Gen 1-3; July 27th – 28th 2010
Event
The Mens Christian Convention is run annually in Christchurch by the Gospel Training Trust. Its aim is to support local churches across the South Island of Aotearoa by encouraging and equipping men to live wholeheartedly for Jesus in every sphere of life. We set about this by providing world class Bible teaching, great music, and the fellowship of meeting together as brothers in Christ. We will meet together over two evenings – Tuesday the 27th and Wednesday the 28th of July. Both evenings begin at 6.45pm and conclude at 9.30pm including a time to encourage each other over supper. There will also be an excellent book stall with EFTPOS available. Bring a Bible.
Speaker
Simon Manchester is the senior minister at St Thomas’ Anglican Church North Sydney. He is married to Kathy and they have three children in their twenties. He was chaplain for the North Sydney Rugby League Bears for seven seasons. He has been privileged to speak at various conventions in Australia and in the UK and earlier this year in NZ at the Hamilton Easter Convention. He is also heard each week on Sydney radio. Simon’s aim is to listen to Scripture
till its meaning and implications are clear and then speak to interest the visitor as well as the long-timer – engaging the professor and the plumber.
Topic
At each end of the Bible there are perfect bookends – two chapters of the world as it was and two chapters as it will be. But we will study the early plan of God, and the fall of man too, in a away that covers creation, work, home, temptation, sin, grace and almost all the foundational issues. Come and be refreshed and strengthened!
